로버트 맥클로스키 (Robert McCloskey) (지은이)
미국의 어린이책 작가로 오래도록 사랑받는 훌륭한 작품들을 많이 발표했습니다. 오하이오주 해밀턴에서 태어나 음악과 발명에 관심이 많은 학창 시절을 보내고 보스턴과 뉴욕의 예술 학교에서 그림을 공부했습니다. 처음으로 고향을 배경으로 글을 쓰고 그림을 그린 《렌틸》에 이어 《아기 오리들한테 길을 비켜 주세요》로 칼데콧상을 받았습니다. 제2차 세계 대전이 끝난 뒤 메인주에 정착하고 그곳의 일상을 배경으로 한《어느 날 아침》, 《딸기 따는 샐》, 《기적의 시간》 등을 발표해 다시 칼데콧상을 받아 최초로 칼데콧상을 두 번 받은 작가가 되었습니다. 섬세하면서도 생동감 가득한 흑백 그림으로 어른 아이 할 것 없이 모두의 사랑을 받습니다.
